Eastern Oval
Eastern Oval, Ballarat
Eastern Oval is a sports field in Ballarat, Victoria. It has a old wooden grandstand and can hold about 10,000 people. The field was fixed up in 2000 and again in 2019, with new lights, change rooms for women, and grass areas for training.
The first game at Eastern Oval was in 1862. It had its first big cricket match in 1985. A Cricket World Cup game between England and Sri Lanka was played there in 1992. It has also had local cricket games, women's cricket, and practice games for the men's league.
The field is also used for Australian football. It is the home of the East Point Football Club and was once the home of the East Ballarat Football Club. Most final games for the Ballarat Football & Netball League are played there. It has also had practice games for the AFL before Mars Stadium was rebuilt.
