Mountain Gate Tennis Club started in 1960 and has grown a lot over the years. It began with just four courts at HV Jones Reserve, but is now located at Reta Matthews Reserve at the end of Bourke Road in Ferntree Gully. The new location has eight floodlit courts – six en tout cas (clay-like) courts and two synthetic courts – next to the peaceful Blind Creek trail.
The club welcomes players of all skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner wanting lessons, someone looking to play social tennis on weeknights, or interested in weekend competitions, there’s something for everyone.
We take part in many competitions and leagues, including:
- Weeknight competitions through the Knox District Night Tennis Association
- Saturday and Sunday competitions with the Waverley District Tennis Association
- Pennant competitions for more advanced players
The club works with Intense Tennis, who offer coaching for all ages and skill levels. They also run Hot Shots Tennis – a fun and friendly program that helps kids and their parents learn the basics before moving on to competition tennis.
