Access and Inclusion at Ashburton Pool and Recreation Centre
At Ashburton Pool and Recreation Centre, we care about making sure everyone feels welcome. We want to make it easier for people with different needs to join in and enjoy our centre.
That’s why we offer a range of accessible features in a clean and safe space. Our staff are friendly, trained, and ready to help. We also have different membership options to support people who may find it hard to take part. This includes:
- Discounted prices for concession card holders
- Free entry for Companion Card holders
- Cheaper entry for Carer Card holders
Quiet Hour
Every Tuesday from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, we run a Quiet Hour in our health club. During this time, we lower the music and dim the lights to support people with sensory needs and their families.
Sensory Swim
Join us for Sensory Swim every Wednesday from 3:00pm to 3:30pm. We ask everyone to keep noise low during this time to create a calm and quiet space for people with sensory needs.
BindiMaps is a free app that helps people find their way around indoor spaces like pools, gyms, and shopping centres. It gives directions using sound, maps, and text.
This app is especially helpful for people who are blind, have low vision, or use a wheelchair. BindiMaps is now available at all Boroondara Leisure and Aquatic Centres
