Stevensons Falls Accessible Walk, Barramunga - Walking Maps

This walk or roll follows a tumbling river through giant trees and cold climate rainforest to a beautiful waterfall.

Is this walk accessible for me?
The walk is accessible to everyone, including people who use mobility aids. Manual wheelchair users may require some assistance.

How accessible is the path?
The area is well maintained. Maps and directional markers provide guidance along the accessible walking path. There are gentle, but steady slopes upstream to the falls.

Plastic boardwalks are installed. They are non-slip with buffered edges. Only boardwalks by the river have safety rails.

Other sections of the path are compacted gravel. The gravel has a relatively coarse stoney surface that may create some resistance for manually operated and narrow wheeled chairs. It can be slippery when wet. No steps were found on the accessible path. There were no overhead obstacles.

The sealed concrete path to and across the river bridge is a long, wide, mildly sloping, switch backed ramp.

Some path sections have drop offs to the river or from boardwalks to the earth below.

There is space to turn a wheelchair around. Some sections are too narrow for side-by-side travel. Options for shorter walks are limited to a shorter return walk. This would mean not getting to the waterfall viewing platform. Mobile phone coverage is poor.

Note: The dirt road to Stevensons Falls is narrow and winding.

Rest areas
Picnic tables are not roll under. They are connected by pathways to the walk amongst grassy lawns. There is seating without armrests. Accessible interpretive signs have been installed along the path. An accessible viewing platform gives a view of the falls. Beyond this the track is not accessible.

There are no food and drink services nearby. Carry your own water bottle. Take you rubbish home with you.

Toilets
An accessible toilet is provided.

Dogs
Dogs must be on a leash.

There is no public transport.

Parking
2 accessible parking spaces are located beside the path. These have bollard protected side space and kerbless access to the walking path. The surface is sealed, smooth and flat. No road crossing or walking through a car park is required. Public parking is 30 meters away along a compacted gravel path.
