In Melbourne, the Multiclass Sports Association began in 2013. Some teachers and parents from special schools wanted to make a snowsports event for the Victorian Interschools Snowsports Championships.
The Multiclass Event is for people with disabilities who like skiing or snowboarding. It gives them a safe and helpful place to practice and compete.
With Disabled Wintersport Australia, we have a 3-day event at Mt Buller. There are two days of lessons, then a race as part of the Victorian Interschools competitions.
The best part is race day. It’s exciting and fun when athletes finish their run. Everyone’s achievements are celebrated at the medals ceremony.
These programs are for anyone with a disability. They can come from any school or through the Special Olympics.
