Specialist Hoops Basketball Melton
Specialist Hoops Basketball Melton is an organisation that started in order to give kids with disability a chance to enjoy the game of basketball in a safe and fun learning environment, where they can be themselves without fear of being judged.
Specialist hoops began in September 2017 when founder, Emily Attard, decided to set up a one-day "all abilities" camp to promote the values listed above. After a successful program in 2017, and people asking when the next program was going to run, Emily decided that it needed to become a regular program.
Teaming up with Co-Founder Doug Crowe and a group of experienced coaches, the weekly program from Specialist Hoops quickly became a reality.
Specialist Hoops now runs weekly All-Abilities Basketball sessions on Fridays from 4:15 and ending at 5:30 at the Melton Recreation Centre.
In this weekly program Specialist Hoops caters for adults and children with all-abilities and offer them a safe and fun learning environment without expectations. They teach basic basketball techniques but focus on keeping people engaged and active!
Fingers crossed the weekly program can get up and running again soon, but for now they coming up with innovative and engaging ways for people to keep up thier basketball skills at home.
