Their mission is to create an outlet for people with all disabilities to express themselves through the enjoyment of music. To sing and dance like there is no-one watching.
Music expresses that which cannot be put into words.
Music as therapy is highly regarded throughout the world as a significant intervention for people with mental and physical disabilities. It plays an important role in developing, maintaining and/or restoring physical and emotional function. Discobility welcomes people of all ages, from teens to late adulthood, catering to a wide scope of disabilities, whether congenital or adventitious. Our sessions offer the opportunity to develop and improve a wide range of functions including:
- Joint and muscle exercise
- Fine and gross motor coordination and control
- Increase muscle strength and range of motion
- Improve cardiopulmonary and respiratory function
- Improve oral-motor skills
- Facilitate relaxation and controlled movement in a fun and inclusive environment
